transpixel FIRST-EVER WATERBORNE TESTING OF DD(X) QUARTER-SCALE MODEL -- Northrop Grumman, leading the DD(X) National Team through Phase III of the U.S. Navy's next-generation destroyer program, has fulfilled another major requirement for DD(X) by designing, building and testing a 150-foot long, 126-ton quarter-scale hull model. This quarter-scale model, based on the design of the full-sized ship, recently underwent a series of underwater explosion testing at the U.S. Army's Aberdeen Test Center in Maryland. This testing validated the DD(X) hullform, and demonstrates that the DD(X) hull will fully meet the U.S. Navy's operational requirements. transpixel
